Metal Gear Character Battle Contest

Metal Gear Character Battle Contest

About the seeded bracket

Once again, I will be employing the use of a seeded bracket.

The format of this contest will follow a standard, single elimination bracket--2 divisions, 64 characters. Each division has 32 characters, which get paired for the battles. Each division will go through 5 rounds. Winners of the 2 divisions will square off in the Tournament Final, where we determine a winner.

I've taken a page out of GameFAQ's book and discovered that seeded brackets make for much better and close races. For those of you who don't know what a seeded bracket is, let me define it: each character is designated a seed, 1 to 32. In this contest, the more popular you are, the higher the seed. The bracket is arranged so that the high seeds beat the lower seeds, and thus have the most popular players beating up each other in the final. It also allows for the possibility of a major upset if a lower seed beats a higher seed. Let me give you a graphic as to what the bracket looks like--this is what normally would happen round by round.

Winners are in bold type.
