Podcast

Button Mashers is a periodic audio podcast covering a range of topics in the gaming industry. This blog was created for myself, Tetsuotrunks, as well as a few guest co-hosts, to contribute our 2 cents on topics that really don't warrant any discussion, or to just express things that we'd like to get off our chests. Check back often, as we update frequently and feel free to leave any feedback.

Hey all. Nick (Red_Mage) is having a hell of a time with a number of different problems, computer and personal related. He says he'll be back at some point, but for now, I've asked Biccy to fill in on the Wednesday post. We had some setup troubles which is why this is late, but Bic'll be taking over Wednesday for the foreseeable future. And, without further ado, here's Biccy's post.

"Keeping in the with traditional blog theme, I'll start with the key word...
So! As T.T said previously, as of yet there isn't much to say about the rest of this years game line up. We've had the dizzying heights of GTA4 and (most of us) have had Ninty's most recent way to fill their swimming-pool-money-vault, Brawl. I really can't think of what can come next over the year that'll match these early on cash rake ins.

Of course, I still have Brawl to wait for. However, my urge to play it has sadly diminished from waiting so damn long. There's only so long you can jump up and down hoping they'll suddenly announce it to be coming out tomorrow.
Ninty have finally given us a few words as to why this FIVE MONTH difference could be.
"localisation timeframes, along with some bonus, very vague stuff about Nintendo's production capabilities. "
Not really too surprising I suppose. But at least it's just over a month to go. Then we get to fight against 5 month pro Japanese Brawlers...lucky us!

At least we got Wiiware nice and promptly. I'm looking forward to where this could go, some real gems could appear from those unknown minds sitting out there in their basements.
One thing I'm looking forward to for Wiiware is the Strong bad game. Sure it probably won't be very in depth or anything, but it'll be a laugh. The little games they made for their website had great little comedic comments that I keep mentioning to people expecting them to know what the hell I'm talking about.

"Hmm which way is to the chip shop? North up here?"
"Dennis!"
"...yes"

Along the same lines, the Penny Arcade game was released for download recently. CloudANDTidus snapped it up pretty much straight away and from what he tells me...it's a weird game. Lets just say enemies, humping and oranges and leave its description at that.
It's good to see websites like Penny Arcade and Homestar runner developing some games, giving it a shot. I need a good laugh after seeing Red Steel amongst my games. Just staring at me. Taunting me with it's controls. Brr.

While on the Wii subject, I was talking to someone who asked me to convince them to buy a Wii. They fancied it but weren't sure. So I started talking...and I realised...I was giving more reasons as to why not to buy one than to buy one. Don't get me wrong, I'm loving my Wii so far. But as far as single player content goes, it's not something that fixes into my mind. Metroid Prime and Galaxy were great but I'm not going to go back to them now. I need something solid that'll want me to play through it again.
What do you think? Do you need friends to own a Wii or is there sufficient enough games to keep even the loneliest troll locked away in their cave entertained?

And finally, Jack Thompson found guilty on 27 out of 31 charges! But don't smile just yet, his closing words were that he'll continue even if he is disbarred. So if any of you live in Florida, watch out for him on the streets.
