Button Mashers is a periodic audio podcast covering a range of topics in the gaming industry. This blog was created for myself, Tetsuotrunks, as well as a few guest co-hosts, to contribute our 2 cents on topics that really don't warrant any discussion, or to just express things that we'd like to get off our chests. Check back often, as we update frequently and feel free to leave any feedback.

Nothing else on...
By iamaredmage on 05.01.08 at 06:11 AM CST
Hey, everyone. How's it going?

So, I really didn't want to cover Grand Theft Auto IV for this week, but the lack of other news otherwise left me with no other choice. Don't worry, this will be short.

I really hate how these past 4 days has been essentially NOTHING but GTA IV. And while I do appreciate a dedication to a game, this is what I like to call overkill. Even Brawl, while it did receive a very good amount of recognition, didn't completely overshadow the game news market, and other quality news was still reported. This constant barrage of GTA is just not good for other gamers who may not be quite as stoked for this game. In addition, all the review companies tossing each other (...sexually) and giving this game auto-perfect 10s didn't exactly help things, either.

Like Brawl, Halo, and other highly anticipated games, all the negative things I could say about GTA IV will not deter any gamer that was going to get this game to begin with. You're either getting it or not, so there's really not much I can add to this matter.

I know coverage of a good game is good business and all, but, seriously, how many companies did Take Two bribe to get THIS many perfect 10s? Christ, even IGN, stuffy as they are, gave it a 10 on both versions. It really doesn't help IGN's case that they have a number of ads for GTA IV.

Yeah, I've gone on too long about this. For now, I'm done talking about GTA IV and am abstaining myself from any more news sources until this GTA thing settles down and we can get OTHER quality news for a change.

Which will be...when? 2009? 2010?
