About Us - History and Credits:

Fantasy World XD was originally founded on October 4th 2003 as a specialist Final Fantasy forum located on the free host Sudden Launch. Created by Joshua "CloudANDTidus" Marketis, Fantasy World Forums originated after the decline of activity on nemiseph, a Final Fantasy and Resident Evil forum hosted by S.Roth. Over four years, between 2003 and 2007, Fantasy World became a niche community of loyal members who grew to know each other very closely.

After four years as a Final Fantasy fan site it was clear that Fantasy World was losing activity and interest, so the staff team of the time decided the site was in need of a radical reinvention. Bringing on Alex as a PHP developer, work started in June 2007 on Fantasy World XD, a fully independent site aimed at covering all genres of video games. The site you see today launched successfully on 4th October 2007, and the current community migrated away from Sudden Launch.

Having settled in to our new home, our team is now hard at work making Fantasy World XD one of the greatest places on the Internet for community based video game discussion. The next stage of our plan is to launch the Editorial submission system on 23rd March 2008, which will allow our members to write reviews and articles, have them read and rated by the community and to spur on discussion and debate.

Fantasy World has been through seven URL’s since launch and has had many people contribute in different ways to make the site what you see today. I would like to thank each and every one of our past and future members, but in particular I would like to highlight the contributions (in no particular order) brought to the site by EyesOfATragedy, Sputin, Alex, Tobu Ishi, Niobe, Tif, Chaos, Zack, materiagurl, Mort, darknightdestiny, E, MadamKisaragi, kissa, Saya, wallnutboy, madhatter, Brookster, Mari, Blackphoxx, S.Roth, Kinie, TetsuoTrunks, iamredmage and many, many more of you.

Fantasy World XD is all about its community, so here are some messages from the people themselves.

From Luna:

FW was a place I could go and be myself at outside of simple things like my normal every day life. It was almost like my home in the safety and comfort of my bed. I enjoyed that so much but recently I've had so much I haven't been able to return.

I'll have to, once all of the clutter and cobwebs are cleared out.

The one person who really effected me the most? I would have to say Chaos. He may be a year younger then I am but he's certainly more mature and he's been there for me through everything...or at least a lot of things. I'm able to relate to him in some ways and others I'm completely and utterly fascinated by him. His thought process is quite interesting and his outlook on life is different to say the least. He challenged me to think about a lot of things about myself, but he's never - well I'm not too sure about that. But I know I really miss talking to him.

From Sputin:

FWF is life. I'm not sure what I'd do without it. It feels like it's always been there, my safe haven from the world and everything in it. A place with reasonably smart people who take each other for what they are, regardless of where they come from or what they look like. And everyone is so amazingly talented and sexy, in their own special way. It's like the family I wish I had, in the paradise I wish I lived in.

A member who's affected me... hot dammit, all of them. There's not a single member on there I wouldn't party down with or raise a toast to because they're all so awesome, and I love them all so much.

From Madame Kisaragi:

In my awkward and somewhat painful years, FWF was a refuge and a place where someone like myself could feel welcome. It was all people who chose not to discriminate and who were willing to not only be the silly friend you sometimes needed to get your mind off life, but also to lend an ear when the moment arose. Even now, as real life pulls me away from FWF, and as it changes year after year, I'll forever hold the image of eye-straining teal and forever keep the friends that I've made through it.

Someone who's effected me a great deal from FWF would have to be Monica, or Willow. And even though she's not there anymore, my meeting her in the time that she was there would inevitably change so much in my life. She's become more than my best friend, she's practically my twin. We're eternally on each other's wavelength and we know exactly how the other feels if we somehow can't put our feelings into words. Monica has been there for me through so much, and vice versa, and I always will.

From Blackphoxx:

FFW is a place I can come and just be.

Outside of this place, I gotta play the responsible, tax paying, bill paying adult in the working world..blah blah.

And sure, in here, I got the old man stigma....but the reality of it is that none of that matters within these walls. There's a number of various and detailed reasons why anyone comes here, stays, and incorporates themselves into our community to whatever degree they like. But for me, that IS the special part of this place.

People can come from where ever and just be. Take part in something, no strings. Show what you want to show about yourself at your own pace, no judgements. Money or position or class or whatever holds nothing here. We're all just gamers to varying degrees. Living breathing examples that despite religion, race, age, genders, blah blah......gamers are the one group that will accept anyone and still get along. I come here for that because it's something to see and be admired.

So, because of that, I'm afraid I may have something of a cop out answer for the one who means something to me amongst the ranks.

True, CnT built the joint. The admins and mods help keep the place in order. The members give it a populace. I don't have an answer for this. No one specific person has made this place any more special to me than anyone else. *cue hallmark music*

FWF really didn't have too much of a meaning to me before. I always saw Andrew on it, and was wondering what it was. Then I found out from sputin what it was about. So I figured I might as well join, to see who the people were. I found FWF to be one of the best sites I've joined, 'cause this one isn't crap like the other ones. When joining, I got a great welcome, but i was surprised on how many people actually welcomed me. It also turned out to be a good place to help me on my RPG skills. I also found comfort when I had a bad day at school, since a lot of the guys in my school are asses, so I just posted, and got help. It also somewhat helped me with my love life, since I got advice from every one here. Over all, this place is great

What can I say guys, thanks for everything, since I know that I can pretty much be myself here, so, this place is awesome, and I want it to stay that way.

Well, I guess it's the freedom that keeps me here. I can act like myself here, as crazy as I like, without anybody raising an eyebrow or telling me to be "normal." In real life I do it anyway, but here I don't have to ignore the naysayers, which is always a plus.

Although we have a fair sized community, we all get along really well, and there are rarely any arguments/fights between anybody, which is rare to see in any social group, and a definate welcome change from what goes on in real life.

I guess the person who means the most to me here would be 'Nut. I've known him for aaaaages and ages, and even though he hardly talks to me these days, I still remember the good times. He's the one that showed me here in the first place, after we met on another forum that's long since died out.

I first came to FWF via Chaos, from the Hellhole called the Pendragon Adventure. Chaos was an awesome RPer and writer, as i was introduced to his writings via Phoenix on that forum. Chaos wasn't always around there, and i wanted to know where else he went, and that's how he got me here. FWF has really changed me, as I started out as a postcounting noob who almost got banned, and now look at me. I'm as good as RPing as most others around here, I've improved in my own writing, and best of all, FWF has recently *insert a revealing fact here that only one other person on this forum would know what the fact is... sorta*

FWF is more than just a forum, it's a community of people that have managed through hard times together, and most of us wouldn't have it any other way. I'm proud to say I'm a member of this place of friends.
